The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), in collaboration with key innovation partners, has awarded a total of $280,000 in equity-free funding to six high-impact Nigerian startups operating in the agriculture and healthcare sectors. The awards were announced during the grand finale of the NSIA Prize for Innovation (NPI) held in Lagos, as part of efforts to promote tech-driven solutions that address national development challenges.

Among the winning startups were RiceAfrika Technologies, which leverages data and automation to improve rice production, and WellaHealth, a digital health company offering affordable micro-health insurance and malaria care. Each winner received between $5,000 and $70,000, alongside access to mentorship, visibility, and strategic investment networks.

This initiative highlights NSIA’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem and driving inclusive economic growth. With plans to scale the Prize annually, NSIA says it aims to create a pipeline of fundable, scalable startups capable of delivering real-world impact across critical sectors.
