Telecoms giant, MTN Nigeria, has staged a remarkable financial comeback, posting a net income of ₦414.9 billion in the first half of 2025. This marks a stunning 180% year-on-year (YoY) turnaround, especially when compared to the ₦519.1 billion net loss recorded in the same period in 2024.

The company’s recovery is attributed to improved operational efficiency, stabilised currency rates, and renewed investor confidence in Nigeria’s telecom sector. Analysts say this rebound not only reflects MTN’s strategic resilience but also signals a positive shift in Nigeria’s digital economy outlook.

With telecoms serving as the backbone of Africa’s digital transition, MTN’s performance could spur fresh investments, improved service delivery, and renewed competition among operators, further driving innovation and access across the region.
