The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has officially confirmed that telecom operators are now fully responsible for resolving all SIM registration issues, following the migration to the new NIN Authentication (NINAuth) platform. This update marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s digital identity framework and comes as part of efforts to streamline the integration of National Identification Numbers (NIN) with mobile lines.
Under this new model, telcos will handle complaints and technical glitches relating to SIM-NIN linkage, rather than referring subscribers back to NIMC. The Commission emphasized that this change is aimed at reducing bottlenecks for users and improving the overall efficiency of the national identity verification process.
