YC-backed Nigerian delivery startup Chowdeck has smashed a new milestone; with over 1,000 orders in a single day in Ghana, only three months after launching in Accra. For context, reaching that same volume in Nigeria took the company 11 months. CEO Femi Aluko called the achievement “proof that our vision transcends borders” as they celebrated the milestone.
Chowdeck’s success in Ghana stems from a targeted market entry strategy. They kicked off operations with rider training, performance-based incentives (“Rider Games”), a customer referral scheme offering GHS 10 off, and a tiered ChowScore loyalty program for repeat discounts and free delivery. They hired Henry Whyte—former Bolt Ghana exec—as country lead to guide operational scale.
The rapid adoption reflects booming demand for reliable delivery services in Ghana’s growing mobile economy. For Chowdeck, which already hit over ₦30 billion ($19 million) in Nigerian deliveries and serves more than 1 million users across 11 cities, this signals strong regional potential. As they refine their tech and incentive models in Accra neighborhoods like East Legon and Cantonments, the company is proving that African-led logistic platforms can scale fast—with possible further expansion across the continent.
