Morocco’s telecom regulator ANRT has officially invited companies to submit bids for the country’s 5G network deployment, marking a major step toward launching 5G services ahead of key events like the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and co-hosting the World Cup in 2030. The government aims to achieve coverage for 25% of the population by end-2025, rising to 70% by 2030, starting in major cities, tech parks, industrial zones, and sports venues.
Once live, 5G will deliver lightning-fast mobile internet, enabling smarter traffic systems, telemedicine, IoT-driven farms, and connected factories. Morocco is also building massive fiber and tower networks through joint ventures (FiberCo and TowerCo) backed by a $460–475 million investment to support 5G rollout. This opens huge opportunities: businesses can build next-gen apps, startups can scale faster, and the telecom market will get a competitive boost from shared infrastructure. As Morocco gears up for global sports events, the 5G rollout positions the country as a digital leader in Africa with better connectivity, new tech jobs, and smarter, more connected communities on the horizon.
