WhatsApp is set to roll out a new anti-scam feature aimed at protecting users from fraud, after taking down a staggering 6.8 million accounts globally in the first half of 2025. The popular messaging platform made this known in its latest transparency report, citing misuse, spam, and security violations as reasons for the removals.

The upcoming tool will help users identify and report suspicious messages or unknown contacts, making it easier to block scams before damage is done. The platform is also working on improving its AI systems to detect fake or harmful activity in real time.

With over 2 billion users worldwide, WhatsApp says the new feature will be rolled out gradually, starting with high-risk regions. The move is part of a broader push to boost user trust amid growing concerns about cybercrime and digital safety.
