NCC Pulls Plug on Globacom Over ‘Vacancy’ Lapse Amid Regulatory Dispute

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced it will suspend regulatory services for Globacom Limited due to the company's failure to fill a mandatory key executive vacancy as required by licensing regulations. Although specifics of the role weren’t officially disclosed, industry insiders suggest the post involves senior technical oversight critical for compliance.

This marked enforcement action follows repeated demand notices sent to Globacom. NCC has indicated that the company’s delay in addressing the staffing gap threatens the continuity of services like spectrum allocation and mobile numbering administration, which are vital to its operations.

The suspension takes effect immediately, leaving Globacom at risk of losing access to essential regulatory support. To avoid deeper consequences, including possible license penalties, the NCC is urging swift action. Globacom has been given a final window to fill the role and restore compliance. Failure to do so could see further escalations from the telecom regulator.
