Meta has unveiled an AI-powered wristband developed by Reality Labs that lets users control computers using subtle wrist movements—no keyboards, mice, cameras, or implants required. The device reads tiny muscle signals through surface electromyography (sEMG), translating real-time gestures like swipes, taps, and even handwriting into computer commands via Bluetooth.

Trained on data from over 300 users, the wristband is designed to work “out of the box” across diverse hand shapes and motion styles, while adapting and improving over time. Meta envisions it as a seamless interface for its augmented reality hardware, offering users a more private, inclusive and mobile way to interact with devices—especially promising for people with limited mobility.

Though not yet a commercial product, this experimental gesture-control wristband signals Meta’s commitment to redefining the future of computing—moving beyond traditional input tools toward more natural, non-invasive human-machine interaction.
