Pang led Apple’s AI model team and was responsible for shaping features like Apple Intelligence and Siri’s big upgrades. He managed about 100 people and was a major player in Apple’s AI strategy. Meta reportedly wooed him with an offer worth tens of millions of dollars a year—proof of how serious it is about AI supremacy
In recent months, Meta has been on a hiring blitz, poaching top talent from giants like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and now Apple. Names like Yuanzhi Li (OpenAI), Anton Bakhtin (Anthropic), Alexandr Wang (Scale AI), Daniel Gross, Nat Friedman, and others have all joined Meta’s AI ranks. Zuckerberg’s plan is to build an AI powerhouse capable of superintelligence, and Meta isn’t holding back. Offers reportedly total over $1 billion, including signing bonuses topping $100 million. This whirlwind of talent grabs shows Meta is determined to lead the next AI wave, and amidst mixed feelings and other companies bleeding, it’s working.
