On July 8, 2025, Apple announced that Sabih Khan, a 30-year veteran of the company, will become its new Chief Operating Officer, succeeding Jeff Williams later this month. Born in Moradabad, India, in 1966, Khan moved with his family to Singapore before settling in the U.S. He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Economics from Tufts University, and a master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Joining Apple in 1995 after a stint at GE Plastics, he climbed the ranks to become Senior Vice President of Operations in 2019, where he managed Apple’s global supply chain, manufacturing, planning, and green initiatives.

Tim Cook described Khan as “a brilliant strategist” and “one of the central architects of Apple’s supply chain,” highlighting his role in cutting Apple’s carbon footprint by over 60%, expanding manufacturing in the U.S., and ensuring flexibility amid global supply disruptions. As COO, Khan will lead Apple through a period of trade tensions and rising tariffs by shifting more production to India and the U.S. Jeff Williams will stay on to oversee Apple Watch, design, and health until his retirement later this year, allowing for a smooth transition. Expectations are high as fans of Apple leadership anticipate Khan to champion innovation in manufacturing, strengthen sustainability, and keep operations nimble and robust worldwide. Many describe this as just the boost the company needs as it moves into its next chapter.
