The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) officially launched its new NIN Authentication Service (NINAuth) platform, following presidential approval. The rollout introduces web, API, and mobile verification tools aimed at enabling instant and secure NIN authentication for services like SIM registration, passport processing, driver's licenses, tax filing, and other government transactions.
This move is part of President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda to strengthen Nigeria’s digital identity infrastructure. NINAuth integrates directly with NIMC’s backend systems, requiring explicit user consent before sharing any personal data. It promises enhanced data security, improved privacy control, and a seamless single sign-on experience for users accessing essential services.
With the launch of NINAuth, Nigerians can now verify their identity within minutes, reducing delays and cutting administrative friction. Early results show quicker SIM activations, fewer registration errors, and greater confidence in identity processes. As more platforms adopt NINAuth, its impact on reducing fraud and streamlining service delivery will continue to grow, marking a major win in Nigeria’s digital transformation journey.
