Journalists and civil society representatives in Nasarawa State have been urged to collaborate in exposing and addressing violations of digital rights and data privacy to better protect residents across the state’s 13 local government areas.

This call was made on Thursday in Lafia, the state capital, during a one-day Digital Rights Roundtable Engagement for Media Practitioners and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), organized by Accountability Lab Nigeria.

Blessing Anolaba, the Storytelling Development Officer of Accountability Lab Nigeria, implored participants to remain resolute in condemning social injustices, including harassment, intimidation, and extortion perpetrated by both government and private actors.

Anolaba further cautioned media professionals against the proliferation of fake news, stressing its detrimental impact on national development.
