ANA Bayelsa Chairman, Ebi Robert, Congratulates ANA Bayelsa Member, Dr Onyeka Ike, For Emerging As A Finalist Of The Nigeria NLNG Prize For Literary Criticism

Chairman of Nationally Recognised Bayelsa State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Ebi Robert, has congratulated one of its chapter members, Dr Onyeka Ike, for emerging as one of the finalists of the Nigeria NLNG Prize for Literary Criticism.

This was made in a statement by the Chairman on the 11th of October, 2025, in reaction to the groundbreaking news. The chairman, who was delighted by the good news, commended Dr Onyeka Ike for his exceptional performance in the literary craft and for putting the state chapter on the map. According to the chairman, "Dr Onyeka Ike is exceptional. He has once again put ANA BAYELSA on the map of winning writers, and as a branch we are very proud of him."

The Chairman, who congratulated the lecturer of the Federal University Otuoke, added that "Dr Onyeka Ike is an inspiration to other creative writers in Bayelsa State. Indeed, here in ANA Bayelsa, our business is the creative business. The activities of the past months have proven this fact. Just a few weeks back, three members of ANA BAYELSA, to wit, King Bubaraye Dakolo, Barr. Theresa Ebi Tobuyei, and Dr Ebidenyefa Tarila Nikade, respectively, launched their literary works in grand styles, wherein dignitaries such as the Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil); the Wife of the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Justice Patience Ama Zoufa Diri; Heineken Lokpoibiri; Amb. Godknows Boladei Igali, etc., were all in attendance. The literary events which attracted these heavyweights proved, and still prove, that the creative business is well appreciated."

"In addition to the achievements highlighted above is the longlisting of the novel 'Leave My Bones In Saskatoon' in the NLNG Prize for Literature, a work written by the former chairman of ANA Bayelsa, Michael Afenfia. And now, Dr Onyeka Ike is representing us yet again at another very important literary prize. For me, ANA BAYELSA is a movement."

The chairman, who was optimistic that more accolades are on the way, seized the opportunity to call on young creative writers to work hard, as it is only by so doing that their names will be written in gold.
