Bayelsa Secures $3 Million Dubai Investment For Solar And Smart Meter Production

The Bayelsa State Government has signed a landmark $3 million Memorandum of Understanding with the Dubai-based Jampur Group to establish three industrial facilities: a solar panel manufacturing plant, a smart meter production facility, and a fertilizer blending factory. The investment will be entirely financed by Jampur, with no direct financial burden on the Bayelsa government.

Governor Douye Diri, speaking at the signing event held at Government House, described the initiative as a “milestone achievement” that will benefit Bayelsa, the broader Niger Delta region, Nigeria, and even the Gulf of Guinea. He emphasized that local production will end the need to import solar panels and smart meters, which many Nigerians currently procure from abroad. The governor also committed to ensuring youth involvement through training and employment opportunities.

Jampur Group’s Chairman, Mohammed Shafiq, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership and revealed that production at the metering plant is expected to begin before the end of the year.
