The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that telecom operators in the country will invest over $1 billion into network expansion and upgrades before the end of 2025.

According to the Commission, the investment will focus on improving service quality, expanding broadband coverage, and enhancing digital infrastructure to meet the rising demand for faster and more reliable connectivity across Nigeria.

The NCC said the move aligns with Nigeria’s National Broadband Plan 2020–2025, which aims to achieve 70% broadband penetration by next year.

Industry experts believe the fresh investment will also boost financial inclusion, digital services, and the overall digital economy.
