A court in New Hampshire has rejected TikTok’s request to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the app of using “manipulative” and “addictive” design aimed at children and teens. Judge John Kissinger Jr. ruled that the state’s claims are detailed and specific enough to move forward, allowing the case to proceed.
This is a big legal turning point. More than a dozen U.S. states and the District of Columbia, part of a larger group of lawsuits, argue that TikTok deliberately traps young users with endless scrolling, push notifications, and algorithmic tricks that can harm their mental health . With this decision, regulators are one step closer to holding TikTok accountable for practices that may exploit kids for profit.
