In a bold push to accelerate digital innovation, the Federal Government of Nigeria has partnered with Meta to launch the Nigeria AI Accelerator Programme, designed to support AI-powered startups solving real-world problems. This strategic initiative, driven by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy in collaboration with NITDA and NCAIR, targets high-impact sectors like agriculture, health, education, and finance. Applications for the accelerator are currently open, with the programme set to run from August to December 2025.
Selected startups will receive technical mentorship, access to Meta’s global AI resources, and hands-on support to develop scalable solutions rooted in local realities. The partnership reflects a growing emphasis on inclusive innovation, offering Nigerian startups a rare opportunity to tap into international expertise while building tools tailored for their communities. The programme also strengthens Nigeria’s ambition to become a leading force in Africa’s AI ecosystem.
This initiative marks a significant milestone in public-private collaboration for digital development. It’s not just about funding, it’s about building a bridge between global innovation powerhouses and Nigeria’s homegrown talent, fostering a future where tech is driven by local insight and empowered by global reach.
