Reliance Jio has officially surged ahead to become the world’s largest telecom operator, boasting over 480 million users, including 191 million on its 5G network, according to its 2025 annual report. This milestone cements Jio’s dominance in subscriber base and next-generation connectivity across the global telecom landscape.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) further confirms Jio's supremacy in India’s domestic market. As of May 2025, Jio’s wireless user base stood at 475 million, comfortably ahead of Airtel's 390 million, while Vodafone Idea and BSNL trailed behind.

It now also leads in data consumption, having processed a staggering 40.9 exabytes of mobile data in one quarter—surpassing China Mobile and making it the world's top mobile data user. A remarkable 28% of that traffic came from 5G subscribers, underscoring its advanced network penetration.
