Enugu—famously known as the "Coal City"—has made history by hosting Nigeria’s first-ever Ethereum conference, ETH Enugu ’25, from August 4 to 16, 2025. This groundbreaking crypto and blockchain event ushered in a unique blend of tech, culture, and community, firmly placing Southeast Nigeria on the global blockchain map.
The flagship ETH Enugu ’25 featured a pioneering 2-week Builder Residency, where 50 developers, designers, founders, and researchers from across Africa and beyond lived, built, and collaborated in real time. Participants engaged in immersive ideation, prototyping, and workshops, supported by open co-working spaces, round-the-clock power, and mentorship from international Ethereum experts.
Parallel to the residency, the Pop-Up City welcomed over 200 daily attendees—both local and international—into a dynamic co-creation environment. The concluding one-day conference drew more than 1,000 participants, including builders, founders, students, and global guests. The program included keynotes, panel sessions, and project presentations showcasing how Nigeria’s local realities are aligning with Ethereum’s global roadmap.
The event was made possible through collaborative support: global partners like Lisk, Avalanche, and the Sui Foundation; local ecosystem supporters such as IoTeX, Jetpad Finance, and Digitpay; plus institutional backing from the Enugu State Government’s SME Center and Digital Economy Office.
Looking ahead, ETH Enugu ’25 sets the stage for the Ethereum Research Village (ERV), a year-round hub for academic research, node operations, blockchain infrastructure, and peer-to-peer networking—ensuring the momentum toward Africa’s decentralized future continues to build.
