Scores Feared Dead As Salvation Ministries Church Building Collapsed In Asaba, Delta State During A Church Service

A one-story building first floor rented by  Salvation Ministries Church, along Okpanam Road, Asaba,  Delta State,  has collapsed.

The building, whose original design seemed tempered with, caved in few minutes ago during a church service, thereby trapping some worshippers, particularly children who were at a separate section of the church.

ebirobert.com gathered that, reconstruction work was ongoing without recourse to the original strength of the foundation of the structure.

According to an eye witness who confirmed the incident; "Salvation Ministries are not the rightful owners of the building. They rented the first floor(upstairs). They were having their normal Tuesday meeting.

" The Landlord newly rented the ground floor so, an engineer was called to do some renovations. Knowing fully well that a service was going on upstairs, the "quack" engineer tampered with one of the pillars downstairs and, this resulted to the building collapse", he said.

As at the time of gathering this information, the exact number of casualties are yet to be ascertained.

Members of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and a detachment from the Delta State Emergency Agency are currently searching for trapped bodies under the debris.
