Comedian De General Arrested As NDLEA Raids Skit Makers Home

De General

Sunday Joshua Martins, the Nigerian skit maker better known as De General, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos.

Debo ‘Mr. Macaroni’ Adebayo, one of his colleagues, confirmed Martins’ arrest in a video shared on his Twitter page.

The comedian said the NDLEA officials raided the skit maker’s Lagos home in the early hours of Wednesday.

“So you people’s work is to enter people’s houses in the middle of the night to beat and harass citizens. This is happening right now. We don’t know where they have taken him to. Oppressors everywhere,” he wrote.

In the video, De General could be seen arguing with men in red jackets until the device filming was knocked off.

Femi Babafemi, a spokesperson of the NDLEA, also confirmed to that, De General is being held in the agency’s custody.

He also alleged that certain illegal drugs were found on the skit maker during the raid, thereby necessitating his arrest.

The development comes a few weeks after Cute Abiola, another skit maker, was detained by the navy after he allegedly flouted its social media policy.

Saluman Dahun, the navy spokesperson, had said the skit maker, who was detained on November 15, had been released from detention on December 3 after he was handed a month’s punishment.
