United Bank for Africa presents their 11th edition of the annual national essay competition.
The competition is targeted at senior secondary students in Nigeria as part of UBA foundation's education initiative, which is aimed at promoting the culture of reading and writing amongst young adults in senior secondary school levels to boost the intellectual competition within Nigeria and across Africa.
The eligibility for participation requires that the applicant must be a secondary school student; the handwritten essay must be one of a maximum 750 words. Other things to be submitted are: a passport photograph; a copy of the candidate's birth certificate, National ID or passport as well.
To apply, applicants must submit their complete contact information, (Name, age, school, address of school, telephone number, residential address, and email address).
First prize gets a N3 million educational grant, second prize gets a N2.5 million educational grant, and the third prize gets a N2 million educational grant to any African university of their choice.
Deadline of application is on the 29th of October, 2021.
Selection Criteria:
Be a Secondary School Student

Selection procedure:

Entries received for the competition will
be reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges made up of professors from
reputable Nigerian Universities, who will then shortlist 12 essays for further
assessement.

Following this, a second round of
competition will involve the 12 finalists who will write a second supervised
essay from which three best essays
will be selected as the overall winners from the 12 finalists emerged from the
first round of the competition.
